New Year’s 2015 Statement by Mayor Crombie
“Each New Year is a special time of renewal and possibility. A time for all people to embark on exciting opportunities, overcome challenges, and exceed excellence.
“Mississauga is an emerging City with great potential. As we ring in 2015, we take a step forward to realizing this potential. And as I said during my inaugural address, we are now embarking on a new era and new chapter in Mississauga’s history.
“Investing in transit; fostering a strong economic environment; addressing poverty and homelessness; opening City Hall to all residents; developing a more livable, walkable community; and maintaining strong leadership at City Hall – these are my unwavering resolutions for the New Year ahead.
“While we celebrate the arrival of 2015, let us not forget those less fortunate in our community who need our assistance. Unfortunately, the need remains high all year at our local food banks. Our charities always welcome donations so they may continue to undertake their important work.
“I ask all residents to please be generous with their time and contributions. I encourage Mississaugans to engage in random acts of kindness. It could be helping a neighbour shovel their driveway; volunteering at a local food bank; or simply picking up litter to keep our streets clean. It is up to all of us to strengthen our neighbourhoods and make our City an even better place to call home.
“On a personal note, 2014 was truly a remarkable year. I remain humbled and honoured by the support placed in me by the people of this City. Residents have my commitment that I will work tirelessly to fulfill expectations and ensure Mississauga remains one of the best cities to live, work and raise a family.
“I will not do this alone, but with a great team of Councillors. I am proud to work alongside these committed and hard-working individuals who I know have the best interests of this City and its people at heart.
“On behalf of my fellow City Councillors, the staff at the City of Mississauga, and my family, I want to wish all Mississaugans a very happy, safe and prosperous New Year!”
